First festivity with both kids

A week and a half postpartum, we took both kids out to the Boulder Creek Festival for Memorial Day. I did not think I would be feeling as good as I do a week after having my baby. With the first baby, I was intimidated to go anywhere with Joshua. Trying to nurse in public, having my stroller overpacked because I didn't know what I would really need or not need, knowing what he needed or wanted when he was fussy, crying in the car seat and having to pull over every 10 minutes because I'm paranoid that something was wrong when in reality... he just didn't want to be in the car seat. I always heard people say that with the second one its easier because you already know what to do. I never knew if that was really true. Well, for me it is.
We got ready after eating breakfast and I nursed Annabelle about an hour before we left that way she would eat as soon as we got to Boulder then she wouldn't be hungry for another few hours. I am very fortunate to have a newborn that is a great sleeper and doesn't mind her car seat one bit! Driving to boulder was about an hour drive and both kids slept the whole way there. It was perfect! My brother came with us, so we put on some good music and just enjoyed the beautiful view of the rocky mountains. Once we got there, I took Annabelle out of her car seat and realized her whole side was wet as well as her pants. I thought maybe she was sweating in the car seat (which is weird because we had the air on and I was sitting in the back to keep an eye on her and her car seat wasn't that hot at all). When I got her all the way out, I realized she had a huge blow out! It was her first blow out. Thankfully, it didn't get on the car seat and we came prepared and had 2 change of outfits for her. So after I changed her, I fed her while Joshua and the boys ate their lunch in the back of the car, then we were off for a fun adventure.
Annabelle pretty much slept the whole time and Joshua was in and out of his stroller walking around and playing with some things they had there. It was like a huge street fair. There were carnival rides, a lot of tents set up like a farmers market selling stuff, live music, food and beautiful weather. It was so nice being out in the sun and watching Joshua explore new places. After walking around for about an hour we stopped in a shaded spot under a tree and had some snacks. I took Annabelle out of the stroller to stretch out and changer her diaper. We packed up and walked around for another hour before heading back to the car. Joshua was so well behaved! He had no problem holding our hand the entire time and he listened when we wanted him to go back into the stroller and he didn't throw any fits/tantrums or run off from us. It makes going places much more enjoyable when you have a well behaved toddler.
Walking back to the car, we took more of the city streets and it was so beautiful walking through downtown Boulder, we definitely want to go back! Once we got back to the car Tyler and Patrick gave Joshua a snack and let him put his feet in the little creek while I nursed Annabelle. We loaded up both kids who were exhausted and they fell asleep the whole way back. Once we got home, we all went straight to bed and took a nice needed nap.
I was a little nervous thinking about taking both kids in the car for an hour drive to this all outdoors festival. I didn't want to stay inside all day with such beautiful weather. I know not every outing will be as successful as this one, but it was a great experience for the first time. It makes me excited to do more with both of the kids and to explore more of Colorado.
Being a mom of 2 under 2 isn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. I feel like Joshua and I have a good schedule/system down and Annabelle is so easy and just fits right in to what we already have going.
